Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Financial Assistant is responsible for the preparation of detailed Financial and Statistical Ledger Analysis to support the Hospital’s monthly reporting requirements. This position is also responsible for the recording of all capital acquisitions and related funding in the Capital Asset Ledger System. This position will be cross-trained on all Accounts Receivable positions and will provide occasional relief. In addition this position will review our Accounts Receivable processes and make sure that processes are consistent across the department while maintaining or increasing internal controls.

Essential Qualifications

• Successful completion of a post-secondary business program in Finance/Accounting
• Working towards becoming Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a computerized accounting environment, preferably in a hospital setting
• Sound knowledge of the Management Information System Guidelines
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
• Sound working knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Fixed Asset Software Systems.
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
• Demonstrated communication, organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in data entry skills
• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Trained in EPIC or complete training and pass testing required

Hours of Work

Must be available to work eight (8) hour day shifts Monday to Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per CUPE Collective Agreement.
