Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) is an active, acute-care community hospital located in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes. Among our acute and continuing care services, our team cares for 45,000 patients per year in the 24/7/365 emergency department, provides orthopedics and ophthalmology, operates a dialysis unit, and is renowned for its mental health programs and restorative seniors care. Nursing Float Pool is a Unit that functions to support Ross Memorial Hospital with filling nursing staff vacancies that occur on a day to day basis. This group of high functioning, self-directed RN’s are assigned upon arrival of their shift to areas that require additional or replacement of staff. The nurses are assigned to vacancies in clinical areas including Surgical Unit, Medical Unit, Functional Enhancement and Rehab Unit, Palliative Unit, Geriatric Engagement Unit, Emergency Unit, and Mental Health. Other specialty areas are considered based on the certificates held by the employee, ensuring that they have the knowledge skill and ability for those areas for i.e. ICU and OBS. Each shift brings a variety of experiences and challenges. Staff work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of all clinical areas. The staff are flexible and adapt to a fast changing pace and assignment throughout their shift. Coronary Care 1 is a requirement of all RN’s within the Nursing Float Pool Unit within the first few months of hire.The Nursing Float Pool nurses takes prides in our participation in the education of new nurses as we mentor students from both College and University programs***Ross Memorial Hospital qualifies for the Government of Canada's Student Loan Forgiveness Program***
The Nursing Float Pool is currently seeking a Permanent Full-Time Registered Nurse [DDNN] to join their team.Effective Date: As soon as possible
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario• Current BCLS and ACLS certification• Current I.V. certification• Able to do ambulance transfers• Coronary Care 1 course or equivalent• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public• Demonstrated problem solving, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
• BScN preferred• Palliative training
Must be available to work twelve hour day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
